by Paul Brians, Bainbridge Island photographer

Thirty-one acres of woods and wetland at the top of Toe Jam Hill were acquired by the Bainbridge Island Park District in 2011 as Nute’s Pond Park. But it was known mostly to residents living nearby until this year when the District put up a sign labeling it as a park.

Parking is limited to a brief unpaved indent to the right of the sign. It’s best to back in so you can see oncoming traffic when you leave. If you bike there, be prepared for the steep grade up Toe Jam Hill Road.

Here is a photo essay of Nute’s Pond Park.
